Teaching Event Details

On Sunday 9th there will be a teaching event led by Andrew Simons (3d). The event will start at 10.00. There will be a lecture and game reviews before lunch, followed by a second lecture and more game reviews after lunch. (Participants should bring any games they would like to have reviewed; kifu will be provided at Saturday's tournament.) This will end at around 15.00-16.00, after which participants are encouraged to stay and play friendly games with each other, or simultaneous games with the dan players present. If you need to arrive late or leave early, this is not a problem.

Players of all levels are very welcome. The lectures will probably be primarily aimed at the 5k-15k range, but separate teaching can be organised for 16k-30ks if there is enough interest. Game reviews should be beneficial for everyone.

Please note that this will be held at Matthew Crosby and Martha McGill's flat, NOT at the tournament venue! The address is Flat 3, 21 Brougham Street, EH3 9JS (about a 20 minute walk from the tournament venue/Waverley Station, and 15 minutes from Haymarket Station). For those who attend the Edinburgh club, this is just around the corner. Two important points: Brougham Street should not be confused with Brougham Place, which is just a bit further down the road. Also, the entry-phone is unreliable. Please make a note of Martha's number just in case (07765 018159).

Several of the nearby streets have free on-street parking on Sundays, and there are various multi-storey car parks in the area. Please contact Martha (martha.mcgill at hotmail.co.uk) for more information.

The cost will be £3, or £5 for anybody who did not attend Saturday's tournament. Tea, coffee, juice and snacks will be provided. However, please bring your own lunch, or be prepared to get something from one of the nearby shops.

If we get unexpectedly high levels of interest, we may need to relocate to the club meeting place, Edinburgh Games Hub, a one-minute walk away. The only difference is that tea and coffee will no longer be free!

Finally, if anybody needs crash space with a local player for the Saturday night, please contact Martha.
