The venue is about a minute's walk from Waverley Station. To leave the station, head up on to the station bridge walkway, and use the Market Street exit. Turn left into Market Street. You will shortly pass under North Bridge. Old Saint Paul's is just after that, on the right.
For directions from other locations, including Princes Street and Edinburgh Bus Station, please see the link above.
The two nearest car parks are at Waverley Station (vehicle entry/exit via New Street; pedestrian entry/exit available through the station) and Blackfriars Street. The cost for the station parking is about £4.50 for the day. At Blackfriars Street it is around £12-13.
There will also be a teaching event on Sunday 9th December. See details below. Please indicate on the entry form if you plan to attend.
The tournament is a qualifying event for the Scottish Go Championship.
If you would like to make multiple entries, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the details below, otherwise, simply fill in the form and press "Enter".
On Sunday 9th there will be a teaching event led by Andrew Simons (3d). The event will start at 10.00. There will be a lecture and game reviews before lunch, followed by a second lecture and more game reviews after lunch. (Participants should bring any games they would like to have reviewed; kifu will be provided at Saturday's tournament.) This will end at around 15.00-16.00, after which participants are encouraged to stay and play friendly games with each other, or simultaneous games with the dan players present. If you need to arrive late or leave early, this is not a problem.
Players of all levels are very welcome. The lectures will probably be primarily aimed at the 5k-15k range, but separate teaching can be organised for 16k-30ks if there is enough interest. Game reviews should be beneficial for everyone.
Please note that this will be held at Matthew Crosby and Martha McGill's flat, NOT at the tournament venue! The address is Flat 3, 21 Brougham Street, EH3 9JS (about a 20 minute walk from the tournament venue/Waverley Station, and 15 minutes from Haymarket Station). For those who attend the Edinburgh club, this is just around the corner. Two important points: Brougham Street should not be confused with Brougham Place, which is just a bit further down the road. Also, the entry-phone is unreliable. Please make a note of Martha's number just in case (07765 018159).
Several of the nearby streets have free on-street parking on Sundays, and there
are various multi-storey car parks in the area. Please contact Martha
martha.mcgill at hotmail.co.uk) for more information.
The cost will be £3, or £5 for anybody who did not attend Saturday's tournament. Tea, coffee, juice and snacks will be provided. However, please bring your own lunch, or be prepared to get something from one of the nearby shops.
If we get unexpectedly high levels of interest, we may need to relocate to the club meeting place, Edinburgh Games Hub, a one-minute walk away. The only difference is that tea and coffee will no longer be free!
Finally, if anybody needs crash space with a local player for the Saturday night, please contact Martha.
